WHAT IS APPS?
The Newburgh APPS Community Service Project (CSP) has a legislative mandate to provide a comprehensive array of services to at-risk, pregnant and parenting adolescents. The overall purpose of APPS is to reduce the incidence of unplanned pregnancies/repeat pregnancies in youth under the age of 22 years old. The intent of APPS goes beyond the avoidance of unintended pregnancies and seeks to give at risk adolescents the options that help them move successfully into independent, productive adult lives with minimal chance of dependency on the public assistance system.

The Newburgh APPS Community Service Project is funded through the NYS Office of Children and Family Services to provide free Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Services to youth under the age of 22 residing in the Newburgh Enlarged City School District.

The CSP is overseen by a Community Council comprised of members from youth service provider agencies, local businesses, faith based organizations, community residents and youth representatives. The Council formulates, implements and evaluates the CSP. They also assess the ongoing issues and service needs/gaps of adolescents in the Newburgh area.
