Irene Tarolli Memorial Fund
FOR IRENE TAROLLI IT WAS MOTHER’S DAY 365 DAYS A YEAR!
Irene Tarolli was born in 1915 in Riva del Garda, Italy. She began her lifelong love of caring for babies and children as a young girl, when she would often babysit. Her childhood scrapbook included pictures of mothers and babies, as well as recipes for everything around the home – meals, cleaning, embroidery and sewing projects.
As a teen, Irene voyaged from her home in the Italian Alps to Brooklyn, NY, where she married her husband, Mario. Together, Irene and Mario raised 6 children. With 20 years difference between their oldest and youngest child, raising the children was a lifelong achievement. In her later years, Irene was happiest when her children came home to visit with their families and she could cook wonderful meals for everyone to enjoy. She had 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
When she passed away at the age of 92, Irene’s children made the decision to establish the Irene Tarolli Memorial Fund in an effort to carry on her nurturing spirit. The Tarolli Family chose Maternal-Infant Services Network as the beneficiary of the fund based on the mission of the agency:
To Ensure that every woman of child bearing age has access to the services needed for a healthy pregnancy and healthy baby.
Since it’s inception in 1990, MISN has:
- Assisted more than 33,000 families in obtaining health insurance, with 80% of those enrolled being children.
- Trained over 7,000 health and human services and education professionals in an effort to improve birth outcomes.
- Referred more than 2,500 individuals to health services and resources through our Helpline.
- Educated 7,000 consumers on perinatal health topics.
- Contributed to a 4.5% decrease in infant mortality in our region since 1996.
Your donation to the Irene Tarolli Memorial Fund will help make Everyday Mother’s Day for thousands of women who are at-risk due to poor or no access to quality care, education and assistance before, during and after the birth of their child.
