PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

An after school club and seven week summer program offering life skills, social skills and career exporation.

OVERVIEW:

Life Choices - works with girls ages 11-14 in the Newburgh Enlarged City School District. The program is currently active with 6th and 7th grade students at the following schools:

  • Meadow Hill Global Explorations Magnet School
  • Vails Gate High Tech Magnet School
  • Temple Hill Academy
  • Horizons-on-the Hudson Magnet School
Moving Forward - works with males between the ages of 11-14 years old.

Through a series of weekly group meeting throughout the academic year and through a seven week summer program, the participants learn:

  • Decision Making Skills
  • Self Awareness
  • Value Clarification
  • Conflict Resolution
  • Violence Prevention
  • Interpersonal Skills
  • Personal Goal Setting
  • Substance Abuse Prevention
  • Human Growth and Sexuality
  • Career Exploration
  • Cultural Awareness
