Teen Link to Community (TLC) is a community-based adolescent pregnancy prevention program (CBAPP), grant funded by the New York State Department of Health, which services teens in Monticello and Liberty. TLC works to help teens and their families become clear about good health for adolescents. Our goal is to help teens develop practical skills to avoid the types of risky behaviors that can lead to unwanted pregnancy and other issues, such as HIV infection, drug use and teen violence.

The services available through TLC include:
Community Education:
TLC is a member of a coalition of health education agencies in Sullivan County that offer adolescent sexuality education programs to middle and high school students as a complement to the existing school curriculum. REAL DEAL presentations cover the topics of healthy communication, identification of the signs of abusive relationships, drug and alcohol use, HIV/ AIDS, abstinence, and teen pregnancy prevention within the context of factual information and good decision making skills.
TLC WORKSHOPS:
TLC brings workshops focused on healthy sexuality for adolescents and teen pregnancy prevention to parents and groups that works with families and teens. Programs are offered free of charge to any school or private agency working with groups of adolescents. All workshops can be scheduled by calling the TLC office.
TLC RECREATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS:
TLC provides Recreational Scholarships for adolescents between the ages of 10 and 18 who attend school in either Liberty or Monticello. Our scholarship support will help pay fees for recreational and instructional programs of interest to any eligible child.
TLC COMMUNITY CHATROOMS
Teens meet on a weekly basis for a wide variety of social activities, which include games, art and crafts, guest speakers, discussion groups and community service projects. They are also offered the opportunity to engage with an adult mentor. We are now offering a “girls discussion group,” where adult leaders and young women meet to share conversation, food and special programs.
CAREER PLANNING:
Teens explore career choices and learn skills that prepare them for future employment.
PARENTING:
TLC programs give parents clear, factual information about adolescent sexuality, and encourage parents to talk with their children about sex.
RESOURCE CENTER:
TLC provides teens and their families information about free or low-cost health insurance and free clinical services for pregnancy prevention. We also have topical information about other teen support programs.
SUMMER PROGRAM:
TLC's 2007 summer program will culminate in a performance, Friday, August 24, 2007, 6:30 - 8 PM, at the BOCES auditorium, St. John Street, Monticello. Click here to see preparation photos!
